The Story of Diponegoro's War
1. Background of the War
The Diponegoro War (1825–1830) was a major rebellion against Dutch colonial rule in Java. It began because of Dutch interference in the Yogyakarta Sultanate, unfair taxes, and a road construction that passed through Prince Diponegoro’s ancestral graves without permission.
